How Do Oxygen Saunas Work?


We all need oxygen to feel stronger, healthier, and more alive. When we have a sense of well-being, we are more able to perform daily tasks and deal with challenges with greater resilience and sense of purpose.


The use of a sauna should be an important part of any detoxification program. The sauna increases the elimination, detoxifying, and cleansing capacity of the skin by stimulating sweat glands and also promotes healthy skin tone and texture due to increased blood circulation. Using the steam sauna with ozone allows the steam to surround the body so that ozone can be more readily introduced through the skin. Humid heat opens the pores, which allows the ozone through the skin to the bloodstream, where it can travel to the fat and lymph tissue. It is very important to cleanse the lymph tissue of toxins and the ozone/steam sauna is the easiest and best way to accomplish this.


Artificially induced hypothermia (rising body temperature results in the destruction of bacteria and viruses) causes you to sweat, this combined with the cleansing effect initiated by ozone will eliminate toxins accumulated mainly in the lymphatic system, relieving the liver from the difficult task of dealing with them. Why Bio-Oxidative Therapy?

Bio-oxidative therapies are used to provide the body with active forms of oxygen orally, intravenously or through the skin. Once in the body, the ozone breaks down into various oxygen subspecies which contact anaerobic viruses and microbes, i.e. viruses and microbes which have the ability to live without air, as well as diseased or deficient tissue cells. It oxidizes these cells while leaving the healthy cells alone. When the body becomes saturated with these special forms of oxygen, it reaches a state of purity wherein disease microorganisms are killed, while the underlying toxicity is oxidized and eliminated.

How long does one stay in a sauna?


 30 minutes.  Some where between 20-30 minutes for a session is optimal.

What do I need to know before I come in for a session?


   Drink plenty of water prior to your session. Do not wear any lotions, perfume or deodorant the day of your session. It is important not to eat a heavy meal later than one full hour prior to coming in for your session, so that digestion is not disturbed or upset by the internal heat you will experience. Please have some type of light carbohydrate snack 60 minutes prior to your session. This helps your blood sugar levels stay balanced.

What do I need to wear to my session?  


  You need to come prepared to change into comfortable clothes before you leave, as your body will continue to sweat for a good 20 minutes after your session. This is desirable for continuing the detoxification process.  While in the sauna you will be naked and sitting on clean white towels. A fun aspect of doing sauna sessions is when you get out you can see how much unwanted waste has come out of you as the white towels are now discolored with toxins that were once in your body, yea!

Are there any contraindications to using the Oxygen Sauna?


  Yes, there are a few precautions to keep in mind. Because of the increase in cardiovascular activity caused by the high heat, for people with high blood pressure, heart disease or other cardiovascular problems please talk to your doctor first. There is plenty of research to show saunas help cardiovascular issues but it is always good to check in first with your doctor.  

In addition, the treatment is not advised for pregnant women, or women on there menstrual cycle. If you have been working out, be sure that your body has had time to cool down before exposing it to the heat of a sauna.


How often should one use the Oxygen Sauna?


  The Oxygen Sauna can be used daily with great results; in fact, if someone is on a detox program of 10 or 21 days it is very important to come every day. A schedule of 5 days on, 2 days off, and then on again 5 days on (a series of 10) is idea. If our schedules don't always allow for this, a plan can be made to schedule your sessions as close together as possible. The reason for fairly intense at first is to get the oxygen levels back up in the body and to kick start the metabolic process of sweating and detoxing. Second, it allows the body to have the chance to dump out years of accumulated toxins through the skin safely and easily.


Will someone be in the room assisting me while I have my session?


  YES! The attendant will be giving you water to drink and placing a cool cloth on your face and neck to help you better relax into the session. You will be monitored throughout the session to assure your comfort and safety and, if needed, adjustments to the temperature in the sauna will be made.


How is the Sauna cleaned between clients?


  Naturally sanitation is very important, so after every client session the sauna is cleaned and wiped down using a spray of hydrogen peroxide, a natural, nontoxic disinfectant. The ozone is turned back on to saturate the inside of the cabinet for further disinfecting. Your feet and body are never touching the walls of the cabinet while you are sitting in it, and white towels are placed under your feet and under your body. The towels are washed with an organic soap and soaked in Oxy Clean so that they are thoroughly clean and fresh for the next client.

We do not provide shower use after your sauna. However, it is recommended that once home you do shower.


How Is Exercise Sweating Different From Sauna Sweating?


When you exercise the body sweats; evaporation of the sweat cools your body down. When you sweat in the sauna, there is no evaporation of sweat, which enables your body to reach higher temperatures. This is what makes the oxygen sauna so incredible! A higher body temperature kills off bacteria, viruses, cancer, and tumors in the body. Your head is exposed while in the sauna to keep your head cool, so that you can feel more comfortable. Hippocrates, the founder of Western medicine, said more than two-thousand years ago: "Give me the power to create a fever in the body, and I shall cure any disease."



Other things you need to know and may not think to ask?


It is very important not to wear cologne, perfume, underarm deodorant, or lotions on the day of your session. These will absorb into your body even more as your pores start to open up to the heat, counteracting what we are trying to accomplish.

It is important to take some kind of magnesium and calcium product while doing a sustained program as you need to replace the minerals you are losing. While you are in the office I will serve you a drink containing a blend of minerals to re-balance your body.

It is important to point out that the sauna is of the type where the head protrudes from the top of the sauna chamber; the individual is therefore not breathing the ozone/steam mixture. One should remain in the sauna for 20 to 30 minutes, but never longer. Taking a steam sauna has many beneficial effects, but as in most other cases, more is not necessarily better—30 minutes maximum whether ozone is used or not.
